Maybe it more suits his people and his deep as hell voice but I’m not really a fan of those type of facial features apart from Arden from FF15 (also a villain with a sad backstory who has beef with the heroine, also with dark shoulder length hair - ugh!)

It’s kind of weird of they can’t seem to stick with the default design of the first appearance. Idk, maybe the animators changed, and therefore the way they are drawn. Just my guess…
